Since the company was founded in 1948, Foundrax has pursued a policy of continuous improvement, culminating in the development of the current BRIN400 series of production Brinell hardness testers.
The BRIN400 series of closed loop Brinell hardness testers represent the latest in Brinell hardness testing technology. They are robust, reliable, proven and designed to meet a customer’s most demanding requirements in harsh industrial environments such as those found in foundries, forges and steelworks.
The test force is monitored and adjusted 125 times per second via a specially built load cell specifically designed for use in Brinell hardness testing and the test forces are applied using a high quality Servo motor and Servo Drive giving full torque at no speed. This approach means that the test force is constantly adjusted to ensure that it is correctly applied within tight tolerances at all times giving levels of accuracy unparalleled in a production environment.
Using the BRIN400 series is simple and easy and requires only the minimum of training.
Maintenance is minimal and can easily be carried out by competent trained personnel. Foundrax are happy to supply the necessary training and support to ensure many years of trouble free Brinell hardness testing.
The BRIN400 Series is made up of the BRIN400B non-optical production Brinell hardness tester and the BRIN400D optical fully automatic production Brinell hardness tester.
Both of these models are robust and reliable shop floor production hardness testers and are in use all over the world providing repeatable, reliable Brinell hardness testing in a wide variety of environments from laboratories to Steelworks and both come with the option of a powered lead screw, as well as manual capstan.
The BRIN400 series fully meet the requirements of ISO 6506 and ASTM E10 and are available with UKAS certificates of calibration prior to despatch if required.
BRIN400D – Automatic optical Hardness tester
The BRIN400D optical closed loop Brinell tester features integral BRINtronic automatic Brinell microscope. It uses “state of the art” technology to automatically make the indentation and optically measure the indentation diameter giving total operator independence.
The test result is displayed on the monitor, test results may be saved to disc or network as they are displayed and they may be printed out at the end of the batch together with batch statistics if required. Similarly, batch parameters can be set via the network. These features and attention to detail give complete operator independence over not only the test process, but also the set up and the subsequent recording of the results.

BRIN400B – Brinell indenter
The BRIN400B features the Foundrax ATH1 non-optical closed loop Brinell test head to give a production line Brinell hardness tester with the capacity to work in scales from HBW 2.5/187.5 to HBW 10/3000.
The user can set the dwell time during commissioning or as required after which the test cycle is automatic with no further adjustment needed.
